A 2009 survey conducted by the American Psychological Association (APA) found that 50 percent of Americans stress over whether they will have a job or have enough to provide for family. The same study found "60 percent feel angry and irritable, 53 percent fatigued, 52 percent sleepless" (CNN Health). In all, the APA survey reports a whopping 80 percent of Americans are under economy-related stress.
Yet we never really made the connection between our low stress levels and the change in our eating habits. Until just recently when Miss Harriet, my wife, who is a natural health consultant, watched Dr. Don Colbert, her favorite nutritionist doctor on television. Harriet excitedly told me, "Dr. Colbert just said two of the supplements we're taking relieve stress...".
The new piece of information reaffirmed that we've been on the right track with our health. The excitement prompted this article about lowering stress the nutritional way.
1. Relieve Stress with 500mg of Natural Vitamin C :
We take one chewable wafer of 500mg (miligram) Vitamin C, made by Natural Factors, a Canadian maker of herbal supplements. You already know Vitamin C is vital to your health; now you know it fights stress too.
2. Relieve Stress with 200mg of Natural Magnesium:
This supplement comes in capsular form, and is manufactured by Utah-based Solaray, a leading company in the natural health industry. We have tried a mix of magnesium and something else, but we've found this magnesium-only supplement yields the best benefits, according to our bodies. At first we started taking magnesium to relieve joint pains and muscle aches. It's a huge added bonus to learn this natural miracle also keeps stress under control. Take one magnesium capsule in the morning and another before bed. Miss Harriet takes hers with purified water. In addition to using water, I sometimes take mine with green tea, organic coffee or 100 per cent fruit juice.
