Can You Believe This Helped Kick Migraine Headaches Out of My Life?

In the mid 90s, I started having frequent and severe migraine headaches. Things got so bad I would pass out at odd hours like 3:00 AM, scaring the heck out of my wife, Harriet. Something had to be done, and when visiting various clinics and doctors failed to identify what was up with me, I decided to try the nutrition path to changing the condition of my health. As part of that journey, I came across a book with a catchy name, "What Would Jesus Eat?", a word play on "What Would Jesus Do?", which was the fad of the time. I really didn't know anything about Dr. Don Colbert at the time. I picked up his book solely because of its enticing title. But reading the book turned out to be one of the healthiest steps I ever took. Months later, Harriet, my sweetheart read "What Would Jesus Eat?", and she, like me, became a fan of Dr. Colbert's. Since then we have read other books by the author and doctor. And we have enjoyed his writing style of taking health and medical jargon and putting it into words any literate person can easily understand. We have since learned that some very famous people in America owe their health to Dr. Colbert. This has only served to affirm our belief in the man's work.
We have obviously learned a lot from Don Colbert. And in the spirit of Colbert simplicity, here is a list of ten practical things you can do to give your health a shot in the arm:
- Learn to relax: Stress is the number one enemy of the immune system. When you relax you relieve stress and strengthen your body's defense system against sickness and disease.
- Get to bed on time: Your body uses the time you rest and sleep to restore and repair itself. On average, a child needs about 8 to 10 hours of sleep; an adult needs 6 to 8 hours of sleep.
- Do your exercise: Your immune fluids move only when you do. Taking a brisk walk for about 30 minutes a day can give the basic exercise your body needs to be healthy.
- Breathe fresh air: Cancer, infections and all diseases hate oxygen. Whenever possible, open the windows of your home to let in outside air. When weather permits, roll down your vehicle's windows for fresh air.
- Get some sunshine: Sunlight makes vitamin D for strong bones. Spend some time in the sun, but do not stay too long in the sun as a way to tan your skin.
- Eat fruits: The deeper the color of the fruit the more nutrition it will deliver to your body.
- Eat vegetables: The antioxidants found in those vegetables will fight cancer and slow down the aging process, so you can remain healthy as you age slowly.
- Eat whole grain foods: Whether it's cereal, bread or rice, choose whole grain over the refined or bleached version. Whole grain foods are loaded with fiber and minerals for a healthy body.
- Choose white meat, if you want meat: The Omega 3 in white meat along with good fats will support healthy circulation. We mostly eat fish ( tilapia ), turkey, and/or chicken.
- Drink lots of clean water: Water remains the foundation of good health. Water makes your health complete, so drink 8 to 10 glasses a day. Water is even great for keeping your skin smooth and shiny. In fact, many common illnesses are signs that your body is crying out for water. So when you think you are sick, you may actually be thirsty. In our experience, Reverse Osmosis (RO) water is very healthy, perhaps because it delivers greater amounts of oxygen to the body cells. I'm convinced the biggest change that turned my migraine around was when I replaced soft drinks (soda pops) with clean water and real fruit juice.

I was at the emergency room with each episode, put on morphine drip and given a prescription of painkillers to take 3x daily until gone. I could barely function for two weeks. I credit God's gift of Chiropractic medicine for my healing/cure which essentially included this diet, regimen and adjustments. Wayne Dyer spoke of a study conducted at a penitentary where narcotics are not permitted for treatment and inmates with migraines were put on water. Headaches are said to be the body's signal of dehydration (vaso-constriction). This helped the inmates and is your last suggestion. I buy this info lock, stock and barrel. Thanks for putting it out there, mogama. Happy it helped you. Have an enjoyable weekend! Please log in to respond to this comment.Glad you got healed of that migraine, Avis. No joke, since I discovered the water secret, my moments of illness are rare, and when I get sick I heal much faster. I'm grateful for Yahweh Rapha for programming healing into His creation and into our bodies. We only need to flow with the health pattern He has put in place, and He's made it so simple by making something as common as water the bedrock of our health and healing. hi mogama,as i sit here at my computer, with my glass of water nearby, but a soda and iced tea drinker all my life, i can feel the difference when i stop drinking water, and return to soda. we have well water, and it is actually quite good, which helps.thanks for sharing with us,my best regards, suePlease log in to respond to this comment.I understand, Sue. What I miss about soda pop is that "refreshing taste", and it's a shame that water lacks any kind of taste. But I have convinced my taste buds (and my kids) that the real name of water is "Clear Juice". For some reason it tastes better.
